Don't look at the word until you are ready to write. When your fifteen minutes are up and you have completed your ficlet, you may either post it as a response here, or post a link to the ficlet in your own journal. If posting on your own journal, please hide the prompt word in some way (ie. under an LJ-cut) in order to avoid spoiling it for others.
Today's word is: hang
You can copy and paste this code when posting your ficlet if desired.

on 2007-10-14 11:49 pm (UTC)"Who's there?" he mumbled and thrashed around as he tried to sit. The pain took his breath away and he fell back into the bed. He had forgotten where he was. He found the call button and in a moment, a nurse appeared.
"What happened to you? Did you try to hang yourself?" She was young and very pretty in her white uniform with lace at the throat and ruffles at the shoulders. She untangled the IV lines from the sheets. "You have to call if you want to get out of bed."
"Sorry I forgot where I was." Jake noticed the way she looked at him. She would probably write this down in the chart, the doctors would have a conference about his memory loss and eventually the word would get back to Margot. "I was asleep and when I woke up I was disoriented."
"Disoriented," the nurse repeated, frowning. He wondered if she knew the word.
"May I have a pain shot?" Jake asked. "And I would like to sit up."
"I'll check if it's time." The nurse bounced out of the room. Jake rested and watched the light on the floor. He had entered the hospital as an adult, but now he had to wait for help with everything.
