Don't look at the word until you are ready to write. When your fifteen minutes are up and you have completed your ficlet, you may either post it as a response here, or post a link to the ficlet in your own journal. If posting on your own journal, please hide the prompt word in some way (ie. under an LJ-cut) in order to avoid spoiling it for others.
Today's word is: hang

"What happened to you? Did you try to hang yourself?" She was young and very pretty in her white uniform with lace at the throat and ruffles at the shoulders. She untangled the IV lines from the sheets. "You have to call if you want to get out of bed."
"Sorry I forgot where I was." Jake noticed the way she looked at him. She would probably write this down in the chart, the doctors would have a conference about his memory loss and eventually the word would get back to Margot. "I was asleep and when I woke up I was disoriented."
"Disoriented," the nurse repeated, frowning. He wondered if she knew the word.
"May I have a pain shot?" Jake asked. "And I would like to sit up."
"I'll check if it's time." The nurse bounced out of the room. Jake rested and watched the light on the floor. He had entered the hospital as an adult, but now he had to wait for help with everything.

She hadn't meant for it to happen.
"Hurry, hurry, come on!" she frantically whispered.
Tammy shook her head.
"What do you mean no?" she hissed. Her fingers tightened on the body. It had been a harmless trick. Hang a mud-filled bucket on top of a partially opened door, have Daniel walk through it, the bucket falls upside down over his head, revenge for him cheating on her.
Damn kid's shows. It always worked on them.
It never killed the person on them.
And how the fuck was she supposed to even fathom that a harmless bucket would kill him? It wasn't fathomable. She took a deep breath, smeared a finger through the mud on Daniel's wrist (smooth, cool, feels nice, pretty in an abstract way: brown on porcelain), and started to quiver.
"You've got to help me. I can't -- we can't leave the body here."
Tammy shook her body.
"Come on!
Tammy opened her mouth and croaked, "You killed him."
"I did not, I did not. He killed himself. Who dies from buckets?"
"Ally," Tammy started, then stopped. Her face was pale, lips purple.
"Tammy!" She shook Daniel arm; he was very heavy. "Fucking help me!" Tears streaked down her face, blotching her vision.
Tammy jumped and gasped and ran. Down the walkway, across the street, her clicks the only sound in the night air.
It was a good thing it was a cold October night, Ally thought, because no one was out. She crouched next to Daniel and licked his cheek.
She couldn't breathe she was crying so hard.
A light flickered on in the house. That would be the girlfriend he cheated on her with.
She suddenly stopped crying and broke Daniel's nose with a quick twist of her hand. She couldn't believe Tammy had left her hanging. A damn excuse for a sister.
"Daniel?" the sluttish girlfriend called. Ally grabbed the bucket and brought it down on the girlfriend's head the moment she stepped outside. She kept bringing down, over and over, bawling, until the girl was lying in a puddle of blood and mud.
She hadn't meant to do it.
All the lights on the street were turning on.
She screamed and ran down the walkway, across the street. She needed to find Tammy. She couldn't risk getting caught.
