Splash!

The young blond didn't stop to look at the pool of muddy water she had just run over, nor did she curse at how it had blemished her shoes and socks, both of which she'd always taken great care of - one tends to do so when they're dependent on one pair of footwear only. Her clothes, usually perfectly kept, were drenched from the rain, clinging to her pale skin; her long, bright hair was in a similar state of disarray, and, all in all, Lirit's appearance was in complete harmony with how she felt inside.

How, how could she have been so blind? So stupid, and naive, and so completely unaware?

And now, how could she forget?

A soft yelp left her wounded lips as she lost her footing, skidding over the soaked pavement and landing on a couple of bushes nearby. With no energy left to stand, clothes heavy from the pouring rain, the girl curled on her side, tears invisible as the sky cried with her.

Betrayal, she discovered, hurt.

And so, after all, did regret.
