"Zulnith, do you still find me pretty?" Emily asked sweetly while Zulnith froze in mid step.
It was the question every husband feared from the pregnant wife and he had no idea how to answer it. Swallowing the nervous lump in his throat, he turned around to look back at his wife who was laying on the bed, arms resting over her swollen stomach as she impatiently waited for an answer. "Why ask something like that?" he blurted out, eyes widening when Emily's eyes narrowed in what he assumed was annoyance.
"Answer the question, Zulnith."
"Answer mine first."
"I asked my question first!"
"Well I want a reason before I answer yours!"
"Well I'm your wife who's ready to give birth any day now to your /third/ child so I say you answer mine first!" she snapped, always playing that card when she wanted to get her way. After she did that Zulnith knew he could ignore her or give in and neither choice came without it's consequences. If he chose the first one she would cry and bitch for hours and the second one would only make what little pride he had left die a slow, painful death. "So?" she insisted.
"Of course I find you pretty." Zulnith said slowly, making sure he thought his answer through before he said it and when Emily's eyes lit up and she smiled at him, he knew he had dodged a bullet.
