Here is your slightly-lateish word for the week!
Don't look at the word until you are ready to write. When your fifteen minutes are up and you have completed your ficlet, you may either post it as a response here, or post a link to the ficlet in your own journal. If posting on your own journal, please hide the prompt word in some way (ie. under an LJ-cut) in order to avoid spoiling it for others.
Today's word is: note
You can copy and paste this code when posting your ficlet if desired.

The Note
on 2007-08-06 01:44 pm (UTC)PG; angst
The small piece of paper shook in his hands as he read the same one line over and over. It felt like he'd been stabbed multiple times in the heart. The other's neat hand writing spelled out such horrible words and it felt like he couldn't breathe properly.
Tears dripped down his cheeks, staining the note clutched between his fingers. And he never cried, not like that, not where he could be seen or heard, but this time he just didn't care. Couldn't give a shit about pride, manliness and all those stupid, petty things.
He had known something was wrong, but ignored his gut feeling because that's just the way he was. He was afraid to deal with problems because he feared getting hurt, but in the end he always ended up hurt anyway. And he never learned. He was the animal which never understood that getting to close to the electric fence was what hurt and he made the same mistake over and over, never learning how to stay away from the pain.
He would probably have called the other a coward for writing a note instead of saying it straight to his face, if it wasn't for the fact that he probably would have done the same. They had always been better at expressing themselves through written words rather than spoken ones.
And right now a small piece of paper, a wrinkly note with all too familiar hand writing on it, and that one line had wrecked his entire world apart in just a spawn of seconds.
This is not working out.
